Ironwood – The city of Ironwood is hosting its 19th annual spring cleanup behind the Ironwood Public Safety Department on 123 W. McLeod Ave. from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 29 and 8 to 11 a.m. on April 30. There will be no charge for this service. City staff request that residents use the entrance off Alfred Wright Boulevard to enter the unloading area on the cleanup days.

“We really encourage people to take advantage of this if they have anything they need to get rid of,” City Manager Scott Erickson said about the spring cleanup at the Ironwood City Commission meeting on April 11.

On these two days, Ironwood residents will have an opportunity to dispose of any unwanted items into dumpsters that will be placed behind the public safety department building. According to the city of Ironwood Facebook page, there will be a limit of one pickup load or equivalent per property. Rental unit owners will be allowed one load per property.

To prove that they are city residents, people utilizing this service will be required to show picture ID. Each resident will be responsible for unloading their own materials from their vehicle to the dumpster, as no curbside service will be available on the cleanup days.

Items that will not be accepted include brush, car batteries, tires, all paints, petroleum products, heavy metals such as mercury, pesticides, appliances, electronic waste such as TV and computers, ammunition and explosives.

Erickson said that the city hosts cleanup days twice annually in the spring and fall. The fall cleanup days were held on Oct. 1-2 last year.
