Douglas Ray Nurmi

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Douglas Ray Nurmi, 60, of Wakefield, formerly of Marenisco, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

Doug was born on July 19, 1961, in Wakefield, a son of Raymond Nurmi and Delores Will.

Doug graduated from Wakefield High School and the State Technical Institute of Michigan. He worked at various places as a custodian.

Doug was a faithful member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Wakefield.

He will be remembered for his sisu, his smile and his love of beagles and bingo. He asked for so little and gave so much.

Doug is survived by his mother, Delores Will; his siblings, Daniel (Jeanne) Nurmi, Janice Maki, Joyce (Michael) Olson, Dale (Mickylynn) Nurmi, Judy (Michael) Caruso, and JoAnn Nurmi; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Nurmi; his stepfather, George Will; a nephew; and a great-niece.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 7, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at All Saints Lutheran Church, 1202 Putnam St., in Wakefield, with the Rev. Kay S. Richter officiating.

Interment will take place at the Marenisco Cemetery.
