Leroy Herman Vaughn

MERCER, Wis. — Leroy Herman Vaughn, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.

He was born on Sept. 5, 1934, in Mercer, the son of Arjay and Ines (Stone) Vaughn. Leroy was united in marriage to Joan Stefanik in 1955, and they had two sons, Ronald, and Donald. Later in life he was united in marriage to Sandra Harris.

He is survived by wife, Sandra (Harris) Vaughn of Alma; sons, Ronald Vaughn of Kissimmee, Florida, and Donald Vaughn of Mercer; and four grandchildren, Cole, Nathan, Jesse and Ella. Also surviving are siblings, Phyllis (Cal) Horner of Bozeman, Montana, Arjay (Geri) Vaughn of Baden, North Carolina, Carl (Nancy) Vaughn of Kiel, Harvey (Linda) Vaughn of Howards Grove, Jan (Bill) Flesch of Mercer, and Dar (Tony) Hoffmann of Sheboygan Falls. Leroy is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan; grandson, Benjamin Vaughn; and a sister, Barbara (Norb) Baeseman of Winchester.

Leroy was an avid hunter and fisherman, who loved the outdoors. He worked in Mercer as a general contractor, plumber, and drove school bus for the Mercer School District for more than 25 years.

A graveside memorial service is being planned for Saturday, July 2, at 11 a.m. at the Mercer Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at noon.
