Zita Domenica Hannula

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Zita Domenica Hannula of Hurley passed away on Dec. 22, 2021.

Zita was born on June 20, 1929, in Cary, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joseph De Meio and Mary Novoscone DeMeio.

She married George Anderman on June 18, 1949, and he preceded her in death in 1988.

She married Lloyd Hannula on Nov. 30, 1996, and he preceded her in death in 2003.

Zita was a life-long resident of the area. She attended Cary School, St. Mary's Catholic School, and graduated from Hurley High School in 1947. She was employed at Erspamer's North Pride Supermarket until her retirement. She served on the Election Board for many years. She enjoyed yard work, collecting clocks, and pampering her canine companions.

Zita was a member of St. Mary of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church of Hurley.

She is survived by two daughters, Diane Anderman (John) Stanfield of Springfield, Illinois, and Denise Anderman of Hurley.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Kirkley Pawl; and a brother, Joseph De Meio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley by Fr. Hrudaya Raju Sunkara on Friday, May 20, at 11 a.m. There will be no visitation at the request of the deceased

Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hurley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the HOPE Animal Shelter of Ironwood.
