Sheila Jean Johnson

KENTON, Mich. — Sheila Jean (nee Nara) Johnson, 75, of Kenton, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Sheila was born on March 1, 1947, in Ewen, a daughter of Wesley Emerick and Gertrude Irene (Johnson) Nara. She attended Ewen High School and graduated in 1965.

On Sept. 28, 1963, Sheila was united in marriage to Chester William “Ches” Johnson at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Paynesville. They made their home in Kenton and were blessed with two sons.

For many years, Sheila was the manager at the White Door Grocery Store in Trout Creek.

She was a dedicated member of Trinity Community Church and a supporting member of the Piecemakers Quilt Guild.

Sheila is survived by her beloved husband, Ches; two sons, David (Skye) and Daryl (Amanda); a granddaughter, Amber (Kyle) Stein; five great-grandchildren, Gavin, Gage, Brody, Jacklyn and Nathan; three sisters, Gail (Bill) Wolfe, Stephanie (Rick) Ulness and Valerie Wolfe; several nieces and nephews; a very special family friend, Sandy Pitkanen; and many other family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Gert and Wes; and a brother, Butch Nara.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, at 11 a.m. EDT, preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. EDT, at the Trinity Community Church in Trout Creek, with the Rev. Micheal Laakko officiating.

Following the service, a luncheon will be served at the American Legion Post 494 in Trout Creek.
