Brenda J. Kostecki

HURLEY, Wis. - Brenda J. (Julin) Kostecki, 82, of Hurley, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving children at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota.

Brenda was born on Feb. 22, 1940, in Ironwood, Michigan, to Birger and Margaret (Krueger) Julin (deceased). She graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley with the class of 1958.

Brenda was a homemaker and a sales associate at Giovanoni True Value Hardware for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, singing with her sisters in the church choir, baking, and taking trips to the casino. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a proud supporter of the Hurley School District.

Brenda is survived by her children and their families: Jeff and Lori Morzenti of Hatley, Wisconsin, and their children Tanya (great-grandson, Grant), Karissa, and Toni (great-grandson, Brayden); Sara and Bob Guski of Shakopee, Minnesota, and their children Jen (Aaron) Virnig (great-granddaughters, Brooke and Claire) and Michael Guski; Linda and Joe Manzanares of Pence, Wisconsin, and their children Heather (Cory) Sbraggia (great-grandchildren, Braxton, Addisyn, Brailey and Casen) and Hailey Manzanares (great-grandchildren, Joseph and Kensley); and Paul and Jen Morzenti of Charlotte, North Carolina, and their children Hunter, Joel, Leah, Annabelle and Ash. She is also survived by her sisters, Carole Romanowski and Gretchen Giancola; and very dear to her heart were Gary and Theresa Giancola, Jay Giancola, Anna Vokolek, and her many nieces and nephews.

Brenda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth J. Kostecki, in 2012; her parents, Birger and Margaret Julin; her brothers, Wayne and Dean Julin; and her sister, Joyce Nordenberg.

Brenda was strong, independent, kind and compassionate. She spoiled us with love and laughter, and her feisty personality was hard not to fall in love with. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. and Mass at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley. Luncheon to follow at the Kimball Community Center.

Jerald Rocco, owner and manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield, Michigan, is assisting the family with their arrangements.
