Faye Susan Lake Shawbitz

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Faye Susan Lake Shawbitz, 92, passed away peacefully at the Avalon Square in Waukesha, on June 25, 2022.

Faye was born in Ironwood, Michigan. She married Michael J. Shawbitz, a financial planner for IDS Ameriprise Insurance, and together they raised their five children in Ironwood.

They moved to Silver Springs Shores, Ocala, Florida, in 1981. They had been members of the Gogebic and Silver Springs Shores country clubs, Elks and Moose lodges. Faye embraced her Finnish American heritage. She enjoyed dancing, singing, reading, golf, bridge, church activities and was always ready for the spontaneous song and joke. Faye was a Licensed Practical Nurse. Faith was important to Faye; on any morning she could be heard to offer up the day to the Lord praying, "All for Jesus."

She is survived by her beloved sister, Judith Lake, Ironwood; devoted daughter, Linda (Jon) Schmidbauer, Waukesha; sons, Michael (Patty) L. Shawbitz, Maryland, Leawood, Kansas; David C. Shawbitz, Appleton; Mark (Kay) E. Shawbitz, Wisconsin Rapids; daughter-in-law, Anita Shawbitz Wierda, Freeland, Michigan; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen D. Shawbitz M.D .; and husband, Michael.

Visitation will be held at 8 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 20, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. A luncheon will be provided at the church following the graveside service. Flowers are welcomed at the church before the visitation.
