Dale James Mattson

WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Dale James Mattson, 67, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022.

Dale was born on Jan. 11, 1955, in Wakefield, the son of Arnie Oliver and Dorothy Ann (Makela) Mattson. He attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1973. Dale continued his education and graduated from Northern Michigan University in Marquette.

On Nov. 10, 1979, Dale was united in marriage to Sara Maki.

He retired on Feb. 1, 2020, as a water/wastewater treatment plant operator in Land O Lakes, Wisconsin.

His hobbies were fishing and gardening. He enjoyed watching television, but most of all he loved spending quality time with his family.

Dale is survived by his loving wife, Sara; a son, Adam (Amy), Poynette, Wisconsin; a daughter, Amy Mattson (Kevin Steinmetz), Lodi, Wisconsin; four cherished grandchildren, Bryce and Nolan Mattson and James and Lee Steinmetz; his mother, Dorothy; and his brother-in-law, Scott (Bonnie) Maki.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arnie, on July 16, 2022; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Melba Maki.

Cremation has taken place, and no service will be held.
