HURLEY, Wis. — Jeanne C. Thomas, 78, of Gile, lost her battle with cancer on Oct. 3, 2022, at her home.
She was born on Nov. 1, 1943, in Lake City, Florida, to Hugh and Matilee (Flynn) Casper. She was the oldest of eight children. She was born into a military family and spent most of her time in Virginia where she eventually met her husband of 42 years, William Thomas. They then moved north to Wisconsin, where they spent the rest of their days. Jeanne loved to be outside in the sun, whether it was working with her flowers or riding on a motorcycle. She volunteered much of her time at the local food pantry, Lions club and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hurley.
She is loved dearly by her husband; Bill ,; children, Dawn Maria, Jimmy (Silvia), William Jr. (Jill), Carl, Stacy (Francis), and Richard (Ann); brothers and sisters, Jay Hughes Jr., Bill Taylor, Judith Ann, James Theodore “Ted”, John Philip and Patricia Ann; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and so many neighbors from Gile.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Eddie and Christopher; and her brother, Richard Wayne.
A private family memorial service will take place at the First Presbyterian Church in Hurley.
