Audrey Genevieve Skoviera

CHASKA, Minn. - Audrey Genevieve Skoviera, age 91, of Ironwood, Michigan, died peacefully with loving family by her side Nov. 21, 2022, at Auburn Manor in Chaska, Minnesota.

Audrey was born June 5, 1931, in Montreal, Wisconsin, to Axel and Genevieve (Shea) Maxinoski. On Nov. 14, 1953, she married her best friend and love of her life, Steve Emery Skoviera. They shared their lives and love together for 63 wonderful years.

Her hobbies included jigsaw and crossword puzzles, knitting and card games. She loved to cook, bake and share many family recipes with her daughters and grandchildren. Audrey enjoyed decorating her home, gardening outside and shopping for her favorite collectibles. She also loved visiting and sharing time with many lifelong friends. For several years she was employed at J.C. Penney where she enjoyed helping and serving others.

Her pride and joy were her two daughters, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. They all were blessings in her life and she had a very special and close relationship with each of them. She never missed an opportunity to cheer and support them at church, school and athletic events.

Audrey's faith, service and dedication to God were very important in her daily life. She was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. Audrey's faith was shown through her gentle spirit, kind heart and the loving way that she cared for her family and friends.

Audrey is survived by her daughters, Blanche Hamilton of Shorewood, Minnesota, and Kathy (Tom) Sisler of Waconia, Minnesota; grandchildren, Dana (Brian) Martodam, Jenny (Dan) Starkey and Nathan (Sarah) Harley; and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ashlyn and Bennett Martodam, Tristan, Kendall and Emery Starkey, and Harper Harley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Axel and Genevieve; husband, Steve; and one brother, Bob; and three sisters, Alice, Gerry and Mary Ann.

A church service will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. at St. Therese Catholic Parish in Deephaven, Minnesota, with visitation one hour before the service. A live stream of the service will be available at st-therese.org/live.

Audrey will be buried in the spring at Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.
