Sydney Pearl McGeshick

MARENISCO, Mich. - Sydney Pearl McGeshick, 13, of Marenisco, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Sydney was born on Dec. 4, 2009, in Woodruff, Wisconsin, to Candice Lillie and Howard McGeshick.

Sydney is survived by her parents; three sisters, Zoey Hardes, and Kachine and Wynter McGeshick; a brother, Dallas McGeshick; her grandparents, Susan Havenor and John Harrison, and Gertrude McGeshick; her great-grandparents, Patricia and Ken Alden, and Wanna Lillie; her aunts and uncles, Samantha (Shane) Klevgard, Shirlene Harrison, Melissa McGeshick, Joleen McGeshick, Shelia (Jack) Brightnose, Samuel Lillie Jr. (Naomi), and John Bug, Charles, Dale, Jerry, David, and Edward (Shelly) McGeshick; many cousins; her extended family; and numerous dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Samuel Lillie Sr., and Long John McGeshick; her great-grandparents, Ed Lillie Sr., and Russell and Judy Havenor; Uncle Chuck Williams; and Aunt Pamela McGeshick.

Sydney was loved by all who knew her and met her. She loved Miss Suzie Malovrh, who was her care-giver for more than 10 years, and her teacher, Mrs. Jessie Ryskey. Sydney was known for her shoulder shrugs and famous eye rolls to express her feelings.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 407 Main St., in Marenisco, with the Rev. Dominic Agyapong officiating, also Native rites will be conducted at the church by Lawrence Williams.

Lunch will be served at the Marenisco Township Hall following the service.

Interment will take place after the lunch at the Indian Village Cemetery in Watersmeet.
