Arthur 'Art' 'Corky' Donald Voss

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Arthur "Art" "Corky" Donald Voss, 84, of Ironwood, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023.

Art was born the son of Arthur Carl and Violet (Heidenbluth) on Aug. 15, 1938 in Waukegan, Illinois. Growing up he was proud to be a paperboy and begin working at a young age. Art graduated Waukegan High School in 1956.

Art joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany. He then worked for Nosco Printing Corporation for 32 years. After retirement, he enjoyed woodcarving and joined a local woodcarving club.

Arthur was united in marriage with Mary Ann Hartwick on Dec. 20, 1992, in Bessemer. She was attorney in Chicago. After dating for many years, she finally had to ask him - the shy one - to marry her. They traveled all over the United States, Europe and the Orient, and enjoyed flea markets and antiquing.

Once they retired, they purchased and ran The Evergreens Motel in Ramsay for 12 years. Mary Ann preceded him in death in 2002.

Art is survived by his many friends, including Ron Clemens, Mike Wiemeri, Steve Zielinski, Bonnie Tregembo, John Zielinski, Lee Stone, Selina Panek, his neighbor Larry Meyer, his many motorcycle riding buddies and the crew at Ben's Place.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers, Vernon (Sharon) Voss and Ronald Dean Voss; half brother, Gilbert Voss; half sister, Lorraine; and coffee pal, Tom Pallin.

No formal services are taking place at this time.

A celebration of life is planned for Sunday at 1 p.m. at Ben's Place in Ironwood.
