Sophie Pauline Drier

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Sophie Pauline Drier, 94, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, with her loving family and extended family of caring staff of the Gogebic Medical Care Facility.

Sophie was born on Nov. 8, 1928, in Caspian, Michigan, a daughter of John and Rose (Dennis) Petroff.

She married Fred "Ben" Drier in Bessemer. They celebrated 62 years of marriage before his passing on March 21, 2012.

Sophie is survived by two sons, Edward (Barb) and Michael (Lauana); two daughters, Diane (Roger) Anderson and Gale Drier-Hensyel (Steve); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Jurakovich; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; and a sister and two brothers-in-law, Mary and Peter "Red" Barbera and Mathew Jurakovich.

The family would like to give special thanks to the second floor staff at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility, who gave loving, compassionate care and made Sophie a part of their family.

A private service will be held at a later date.
