BRUCE CROSSING, Mich. - Daniel "Yayou" Lyle Lannet, 63, of Bruce Crossing, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 3, 2023.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1959, to Jorma and Irene Lannet in Wakefield. He was raised on the family dairy farm with his eight siblings.
Daniel graduated from Ewen-Trout Creek High School in 1977. He excelled in auto mechanics during his vocational training at the Ontonagon High School.
In November 1994, Daniel married Shannon Berger. Together they had two children, Logan and Marlene. They later divorced.
He worked in Wyoming as an iron worker, in Wisconsin as a welder and fabricator, and in Detroit as an industrial mechanic and millwright for American Press Repair.
After moving back to the Upper Peninsula, he worked at the mine, operated heavy machinery, logged, drove truck, was a bus driver, and was self-employed as a mechanic.
He was always willing to help out however he could, even if he was late.
His hobbies included collecting items for projects, playing pool, hunting, fishing, helping his children with their race cars, and going to races.
Daniel is survived by his two children, Logan (Kylee Vandermoss) and Marlene (Philip Messerschmidt); his siblings, Walter (Hazel) Lannet, Bernard Lannet, Marvin Lannet, James Lannet, Dennis (Lori) Lannet, Sandra (Ed) Avedisian and Sharon Peltola; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Marlene Elizabeth.
There will be a celebration of Daniel's life on Saturday, March 11, at Twilly's in Bruce Crossing from 1 to 5 p.m. EST.
Burial will take place in spring.
