Kitty Lou Mason-Wood

MARQUETTE, Mich - Kitty Lou Mason-Wood, 58, of Bergland, formerly of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 2, 2023, at U.P. Health System-Marquette with her loving family by her side.

She was born on March 20, 1964, in Marshall, a daughter of the late Donald and Virginia (Saxman) Mason. Kitty was a waitress her whole life. She worked very hard as a single mother, while raising her children to be the best grown version of herself. She was proud of each and every one of them. She believed in hard work and it showed.

Kitty most recently worked at Antonio's in Bergland. She loved her job and her coworkers became like family to her. Her highlight of the night shift was not too long ago when Ted Nugent stopped in and she proudly got to serve him a late night dinner. She even got a photo with him and couldn't wait to send it to her kids - all knowing what this meant to her, as she loved music, and in return made them happy for her. She also worked at many local restaurants in the Battle Creek area back home.

Kitty enjoyed animal watching out of her big open window, especially bears. She was an avid puzzle maker and would even frame them for her grand babies. Anything from playing Yahtzee with Jim, to just laughing and telling her kids stories about them growing up, while playing cards until the wee early hour, would make Kitty happy.

In her free time, she loved spending time with her kids and grand babies. They were her entire world. Nothing made Kitty happier than seeing her kids and grand babies all in the same room.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Wood of Bergland, who she married on May 15, 2021, in Homer; four children, Randy (Stephanie) Stage Jr., of Bronson, Hope (Brandon) Hall, of Homer, Bo (Jessica) Stage, of Union City, and Tim (Stacey) Mason, of Coldwater; a stepdaughter, Melissa Mead, of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Caden Hughes, Cooper Hughes and Morgan Hall, all of Homer, Audrey, Landon and Harper Stage, of Union City, Quintin Kipker, of Bronson, and Zack, Becca, Cody, Hannah, Gracie and Logan Mason, all of Coldwater; also surviving are five great-grandchildren.

A private celebration of Kitty's life will take place at a later date.
