John 'R' Maki

RAMSAY, Mich. - John "R" Maki, 75, of Ramsay, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 6, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

R was born on April 30, 1947, in Hancock, to Barney and Edith Maki.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved his camp "Cool Water" on Chaney Lake. He also loved playing hockey growing up.

R was a proud veteran, who served in the U.S. Navy for three years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; a son, Todd (Megan) Plochocki; two brothers, Jim (Lori) and Eddo (Jackie); and many nieces and nephews.

R was predeceased by his parents, his beloved daughter, Melanie; two brothers, Wayne and Willy; and a sister, Betty.

The family would like to thank Heather Nyman and the oncology team at Aspirus, as well as Regional Hospice Service.

Special thanks to Eddo, Shorty and "special" daughter, Heather, for all of their support.

An "R" memorial bash will be held on Saturday, April 15, beginning at 1 p.m., at the Wakefield American Legion Geroux Post 11, 605 River St. And remember, don't push!
