Edwin Michael Edmark

HURLEY, Wis. - Edwin Michael Edmark, 74, of Hurley, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Edwin "Eddy" was born on Aug. 2, 1948, to Edwin F. and Lillian E. Edmark in Wakefield, Michigan. Eddy attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1966.

He served in the U.S. Army, enlisting in 1968, fought in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1970. Eddy was a member of the Wakefield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084. In 1974, he graduated from Michigan Career Institute in diesel mechanics.

Eddy worked at White Pine Copper Range Mine many years as a machine operator and as a driller/blaster. He retired in 1997.

In 1978, Eddy met Joanne Davis. They married in 1979. Edwin and Joanne went on to have three children, Michael, Leah and Paul. He had one loving granddaughter, Layla, from whom he loved being called "Gampa," with another grandchild on the way.

He enjoyed spending his time outdoors camping, hunting and fishing. He liked to do woodworking and root for the Detroit Lions and Tigers. The one thing he loved was spending time with loved ones and making meals for the family, his specialty. Eddy had a very witty personality, joking around and telling humorous jokes/stories. He was extremely kind-hearted and generous.

Eddy is survived by his loving wife, Joanne; three children, Michael (fiancée, Alyssa), Leah and Paul (Holly); and his granddaughter, Layla. He is also survived by a sister, Carol (Louie) Alden; a brother, Clyde Edmark; his sister-in-law, Diana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Janice Edmark and Rosemary (Willie) Alden; a brother, Kevin Edmark; and twin siblings soon after birth, Paul and Paula.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 5, at 3 p.m., preceded by visitation at 2 p.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Brian Gerber, celebrant.

Rite of Committal and interment with full military rites will take place at the Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield, at a later date.
