HURLEY, Wis. - Dolores Marie Bjork, 89, of Hurley, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, at the Villa Maria Nursing Home in Hurley.
Dolores was born in November 1933 to Bernard and Alice (DeRizzo) Barrett in Hurley. She attended Cary Elementary, St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in 1954. She worked at Josephson Nursing Home in Ironwood, Michigan, as a waitress in Hurley and Ironwood, was the "Pasty Lady" at Copp's, cleaned at the Iron County Clinic, Weinbuenner Shoe Factory in Kimball, Simpson Electric in Mercer and Trier's Drug Store in Ironwood.
She was united in marriage with William "Bill" Bjork on Aug. 20, 1966, in Crandon. Dolores was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley. She enjoyed cooking and canning, and feeding her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Terrance (Kim) Werner of Appleton; grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Werner of Milwaukee; cousin, Linda (DeRizzo) Roger Gentile of Pence; and close friends, Jim and Carmen Bock, Sandy Olson, Joe and Dorothy Walesewicz, and Tim and Sandy Joustna.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Bill, in 2012.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, with Fr. Hrudaya Raju Sunkara officiating. Visitation will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
