Alice Ann Johnson

EWEN, Mich. — Alice Ann Johnson, 82, of Ewen, passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023. She was an excellent and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.

Alice was born on July 16, 1941, in Stannard Township, a daughter of Reino M. and Margaret G. (Sorola) Tulppo. She attended Ewen-Trout Creek High School and graduated with the class of 1959.

Alice worked as a secretary for the Ewen-Trout Creek School District for 29 years.

On March 16, 1962, Alice married Eugene W. Johnson in Ewen. Together they raised three children.

She enjoyed making pasties and cardamom biscuits, and took pleasure working in her flower gardens.

Alice is survived by two daughters, Jean Marczak (Clarence Cook) and Peg (Ed) Myaard; a son, Steve Johnson; five grandchildren, Chuck Fortin (Sarah Hornback), Alex (Jason) Wesseling, John Myaard, Liz Myaard and Sam Myaard; two great-grandsons, Jensen Hornback and Greysen Fortin; two brothers, John (Mary) Tulppo and Bob (Barb) Tulppo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene, on Dec. 24, 2021; her son-in-law, Jeff Marczak; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Severt and Mary Johnson; a sister, Margaret Fleming; and a brother, Michael Tulppo.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 24, at 1 p.m. EST, preceded by visitation at noon at the First Lutheran Church, 200 N. Cedar St., in Ewen, with the Rev. Kay Richter officiating.

A luncheon will be served at the church fellowship hall following the service.

Interment will take place at the Evergreen Cemetery in Ewen.
