HURLEY, Wis. - Thomas "Tommy" LeRoy Harries, age 69, of Hurley, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, at the Aspirus Ironwood Hospital in Ironwood, Michigan. He was born on May 14, 1954, in Ashland, as the son of Frederick and Catherine (VanSlyck) Harries.
Tommy lived most of his life in the Hurley area under the care of the Highline Corporation, who really became his extended family over the years. His own family would like to acknowledge the many people at Highline - especially Gary, Donna, Angela and Angel, along with many others too numerous to list. Tommy loved watching old time TV shows, especially old westerns. He also enjoyed getting together with family and friends and sharing a meal, and he especially loved his cats.
He is survived by four siblings, Linda (Rick) Kasprzak, of Mulege, Mexico, Janet (John) Murphy, of Duluth, Minnesota, and David (Sue) Harries and Carver Harries, both of Ashland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Donald.
A celebration of life will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27, at the Frost Home for Funerals in Ashland. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow the service in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ashland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Highline Corporation.
