MARENISCO, Mich. - Clifford Dean Markuson died Sept. 10, 2023, at the VA in Salem, Virginia.
Cliff was born June 6, 1939, in Dunham, to Clifford "Ole" and Jennie (Hill) Markuson.
Cliff graduated from Marenisco High School in 1957. He worked for Kimberly Clark for a little over a year before joining the U.S. Navy for four years, before getting out as an E5 radioman. Upon discharge, Cliff worked at Kimberly Clark for a short while again before working at American Motors Kenosha for three years. He finally returned to Marenisco and worked for White Pine mine as a mechanic for more than 30 years before he retired. He also worked on carpentry for others when not working his main job at White Pine.
Cliff married Arlene Schaecher in 1975. He cleared land and built his home on Elbow Lake. Cliff enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. He was a member of American Legion Post 523 in Marenisco, serving as legion commander for many years.
Cliff is preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, who passed Dec. 25, 2008. He is also preceded in death by his mother; father; and sisters, Emily and Judy.
He is survived by daughter, Denise; sons, George (Karen) and James (Faith); five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
