Lois Gilbert

TITUSVILLE, Fla. - Lois Gilbert, age 84, of Titusville, Florida, passed away peacefully on Feb. 15, 2024.

She was born in Ewen, Michigan, on Jan. 28, 1940, to the late Charles Nashland and Eleanor Nashland of Ewen.

Lois graduated from Ewen High School in 1958. She went to junior college in Ironwood after graduation. She worked at Gogebic National Bank for three years before moving to Milwaukee, where she continued in the banking business until she married.

After the marriage to her children's father, she moved several times from Boston to Florida to Ohio, finally settling back in Florida.

She was blessed with three girls - Susan Coleman, Sandy Gilbert and Gail Gilbert.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sandy; and niece, Tracy Schilling.

Surviving family members include her daughter Susie (Shawn) Coleman of Craig, Colorado, and Gail Gilbert of Titusville; sister, Betty (Bud) Schilling of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; and nephew, Todd (Lisa) Schilling of Richfield, Wisconsin.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Courtney and Kelly Edington, Kenzington and Reece Allender, and Hunter and Skyler Coleman; and one great-grandchild, Lola Wieland. They were the love of her life. She was an amazing mother who was always there for her children and grandchildren. They all loved their MeMe. She would always write in cards that she sent them, "I love you to the moon and back."

Lois was blessed with wonderful friends whom she treasured. She loved helping and doing for everyone. She had such a big heart.

In the years past she was very involved in the Titusville Garden Club, Pilot Club, North Brevard Women's Bowling Association, and helping with providing food and gifts for needy families every Christmas for more than 20 years. Lois was an avid bowler. At, one time, she was in several Bridge clubs.

She loved cooking, baking, cleaning, playing bridge, doing home crafts, playing card games, arranging flowers, traveling to see her sister, and being a Meme to all her grandchildren.

Lois always said that she had lived a great life.

Lois requested that there be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sandy Gilbert Math Scholarship Fund at Tavares High School (Send to Gail Gilbert, 1710 Watrous Drive, Titusville, FL 32780), or St. Jude Children's Hospital (stjude.org).
