GOGEBIC RANGE - Something for everyone awaits visitors to the area's many local parks, which are now all open in the tri-county region of Gogebic and Ontonagon counties in Michigan and Iron County in Wisconsin.

In addition to playground equipment and an abundance of campgrounds, each park also offers its own unique twist on fun.

For instance, Black River Harbor, Little Girl's Point, the Ontonagon Township Park, the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park, and Saxon Harbor all have beaches overlooking Lake Superior.

Eddy Park in Wakefield is next to Sunday Lake, Gile Park is on the Gile Flowage, and Lake of the Falls County Park is on the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage. Lake Gogebic also features several parks on various sides.

Ramsay Memorial Park lies next to Black River, and Norrie Park and Kimball Town Park are on the Montreal River.

In some cases, nearby waterfall activity also is available.

For a different water experience, Ironwood's Downtown Square has a sprinkler that allows for a quick cooling off as temperatures heat up.

Hurley's Cary Park now also has an outdoor fitness station, and the region also boasts a variety of trails, from the new mountain bike trail in Miners Memorial Heritage Park to the paved Iron Belle Trail to the dirt path of the North Country Trail running through Wisconsin and Michigan.

Many parks also include ballfields.
