DULUTH, Minn. - Peter "Hawk" Aimone, 72, of Hurley, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Essentia Hospital in Duluth, after a brief battle with CLL cancer.
Peter was born Dec. 18, 1951, to Peter and Helmi (Koivisto) Aimone in Ironwood. He graduated from the Hurley High School in the class of 1970. He had a love of sports and was inducted into the Hurley Athletic Hall of Fame.
Peter worked in wood products, retiring in 2016. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood.
Peter is survived by his wife of 47 years, Louise (Corullo) Aimone; his special nephew and helper, Seth Corullo; and his big buddy, Denali; his sisters, Mary Lou Bishop, JoAnn Murfey, and Debra (Tom) Bruggner; in-laws, Chrissy (Mike) Nelson, Randy Corullo, Robert (Jody) Corullo, and Joey (Julie) Corullo. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Aimone; niece, Lori Erspamer; nephews, Tim Bishop and Daniel Bowman; and brothers-in-law, Tom Bowman, Darryl Bishop and James Murfey. Waiting in Heaven as his greeters are his loving fur babies, Dusty, Dede, and Kona, along with the rest of Peter's family.
Per Peter's wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. His family and many friends will deeply miss him.
