EARLY TUESDAY morning, Wakefield election workers wait for voters to arrive in the gym of the municipal building. From left are Julie Hautala, Kris Niemela, Lauren Heikkila and Julann Ritter. Hautala planned to process applications, after which Niemela would issue ballot numbers and Heikkila would enter data into a computer. Ritter said she then would monitor the station where voters feed their ballots into a tabulating machine. The women assured, however, that they rotate responsibilities throughout the day.

GOGEBIC COUNTY - Unofficial results of Tuesday's Gogebic County primary election held strong for incumbents, with U.S. Rep. Jack Bergman, a Republican from Watersmeet, covering the First District of Congress, earning 1,303 votes next to fellow Republican Josh Saul, 199.
In the same race, Democrat Callie Barr beat Bob Lorimer, 637-571.
