MARENISCO TOWNSHIP — As of May 30, Marenisco Township has a new police chief.
Austin Calderon, who lives on Lake Gogebic, took on the job after training for two weeks with former police chief James Webber, who retired on the same day that Calderon took the reins. Webber had held the job for four years.
“I grew up here,” said Calderon in a Monday interview with The Globe.
He said he attended the Marenisco Township K-12 School in the year of 2003-2004, just before it closed, and then attended the Wakefield-Marenisco K-12 School.
