Hills and trails gradually opening

GOGEBIC RANGE — As winter settles in, activity is increasing on area hills and trails. Here’s where they stand so far:

SKI HILLS

— OPEN: Snowriver Mountain Resort, which includes Jackson Creek Summit in Wakefield Township and Black River Basin in Bessemer Township.

— OPEN: Whitecap Mountains Resort in Upson, Wisconsin.

— ALMOST: Mt. Zion Ski Hill, at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, is scheduled to open on Saturday.

— PENDING: Porkies Ski Complex in Ontonagon has announced hopes of opening in late December, pending weather conditions.

— UNKNOWN: Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort in Bessemer...
