ERWIN TOWNSHIP HISTORY

A 1905 log home built by the Keto Family enters the driveway of Erwin Heritage Park at 8970 Van Buskirk Road in Erwin Township on June 18. Gogebic County Sheriff Jorge Cruz led the procession along East Pioneer Road and Van Buskirk Road, which were temporarily closed during the move. Schuette Movers of Merrill, Wisconsin, facilitated the transfer with help from volunteers and an Xcel crew lifting power lines to prevent outages. Ruotsala Construction Inc. of Ironwood prepared the foundation for the log home, which was placed next to a historic sauna, also built by the Keto family. The large white building is the Erwin Historical Society Museum.
