    LITTLE GIRL'S POINT - State Sen. Tom Casperson, R-Escanaba, toured part of Little Girl's Point to see first hand the damage to Lake Road resulting from the heavy rains and flooding following a July 11 storm. Casperson began his trip at the Michigan State Police post in Wakefield before traveling to the Point via Lake Road.     IRONWOOD - Festival Ironwood wrapped up four days of fun and frolic in Depot Park Saturday. Live music was provided under the tent by a variety of groups through the four-day event with Saturday's music including the Ranch Boys, the Gogebic Range Band and Xtra.   • U.S. 2 reopens to 'light vehicle' traffic

    ASHLAND, Wis — Most drivers can once again get to and from Ashland using U.S. 2, after the highway reopened for “car and light vehicle” traffic Saturday. The highway had been closed after storms the night of July 11 washed out part of the road and caused the Bad River to flood over the roadway. According to a post on the Ashland County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page, a detour around the Kakagon Bridge has been opened.     OMA, Wis. - Stanley "Dee" Martin, 95, returned home to all his loved ones that passed on before him. Stanley was born on Feb. 23, 1921, to Bessie and John Martin in Ironwood, Mich. He died July 15, 2016, surrounded by those who loved him at his home on Pine Lake in Oma.     WAUSAU, Wis. - Susan J. "Susie" Matusewic, 59, of Hurley, died Friday, July 15, 2016, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau. The former Susan Doane was born Oct. 1, 1956, in Wakefield, Mich., daughter of the late Elliott and Marilys (Trudgeon) Doane, and graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer, Mich. in 1974.
