Jean P. Maki

MARSHFIELD, Wis. — Jean P. Maki, 75, of Ironwood, died unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, in Marshfield, Wis., following a lengthy illness.

She was born Nov. 24, 1938, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Earl and Pauline (Armata) Carlson.

On June 23, 1956, she was united in marriage with Glenn R. Maki in Ironwood. He preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1991.

Jean worked in housekeeping at Grand View Hospital in Ironwood for 21 years, retiring in 2012.

Jean was very good-hearted; her door was always open. Family and friends were always welcome. She was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by a son, Scott (Diane) of Bessemer; a daughter, Carrie (Mark) Anderson, of Kenai, Alaska; six grandchildren, Michelle (Kevin) Nett, of Eau Claire, Wis., Britney Maki, of Rochester, Minn., Brandon (Ashley) Anderson, of Kenai, Travis Anderson, of Denver, Nick Maki, of Wakefield, and Elly Maki, of Montreal, Wis .; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bob Carlson, of Two Harbors, Minn., Bill Carlson, of Florida, Stan Carlson, of Duluth, Minn. and Rick Carlson, of Woodruff, Wis .; a sister, Sue Trent, of Kenosha, Wis .; and numerous nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by two sons, Steven M. on March 1, 1969, and Earl T. on Oct. 5, 2013; a daughter, Kristy R. on Oct. 30, 1976; and two sisters, Rosie Anderson and Shirley Relich.

Cremation has taken place at the Range Crematory in Hurley.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Salem Lutheran Church in Ironwood. Rev. Kurt Kovanen will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service at the church.

Arrangements are by Range Funeral Service and Crematory, Ketola-Burla Funeral Home in Ironwood.
