Alfred 'Fritz' Applekamp

BERGLAND, Mich. — Alfred Walter “Fritz” Applekamp of Bergland, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the age of 72.

Fritz was born in Ontonagon, on April 22, 1951, to William and Anita Applekamp.

Fritz is survived by his son, Bryan Applekamp; grandson, Bryce Applekamp; brother, David (Luanne) Applekamp; and sister, Karla (Tim) Linna.

Fritz attended Bergland High School and graduated in 1969, before beginning his career at White Pine Copper Mine. During Fritz’s time at the mine, he worked as a general laborer, then moved underground, and completed his 43 years of employment as an operator in the power plant.

Like his fellow Yoopers, Fritz treasured his time out at camp, which was the perfect excuse to invest in more ATVs and snowmobiles! Fritz was always up for a Vodka Dew and an opportunity to talk your ear off about cars, trucks, guns, and memories of the good ol’ days.

In true Fritz-fashion, we are welcoming those that knew, and loved, him to join the family in celebrating his memory at the Bergland Bay Bar on Saturday, April 13, at 1 p.m. EDT.
