Ironwood Township - The Wolverine Nordic group hosted a free clinic on nordic skiing at the Wolverine Ski Club Saturday morning. Professional ski instructors Hannah Panci and Jackie Powers donated their time to bring the joys of cross country skiing to a group of novices looking to gain skill and grow in their proficiency on skis.

Ginger Kivisto said she, "intends to stick with it."

Panci expressed the opinion that, "the Ironwood area has the most beautiful trails and is the best area for nordic skiing in the Midwest."

"The Wolverine Nordic Ski Club, Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer group dedicated to preserving and promoting Nordic Skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and mountain biking," according to its brochure. During ski season the chalet at the Wolverine parking area is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There are approximately 22 kilometers of trails accessible from the parking area.
