Norma Louise (Scoles) Salo

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Norma Louise (Scoles) Salo, 90, a long-time resident of Wakefield, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Feb. 22, 2017.

Norma was born on Nov. 1, 1926, in Waukegan, Ill., a daughter of Raymond Everett and Blanche Mabel (Renshaw) Scoles. She attended school in Waukegan.

On July 15, 1950, Norma was united in marriage to the love of her life, Joseph Raymond Salo. They made their home in Wakefield and were blessed with a daughter.

She was a devoted wife, nurturing mother and a meticulous homemaker. For several years, Norma assisted her husband, Joe, in the family business, Northland Oil Company.

She was known for her beautiful yard and was a creative lady who spent countless hours cross-stitching.

Norma enjoyed going out to lunch with Jean and DeeDee Sawaski, Gay Gheller and took great pleasure spending time with her daughter. Norma especially loved watching movies with Vickie.

Norma is survived by her daughter, Vickie (Ross) Nomellini, Lake Gogebic; three nieces, Jean (DelFavero) (Dale) White, Wakefield, Roberta Zind, Sacramento, Calif., and Mary (Zind) (Duane) Abbey, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five nephews, William (Charlotte) Knaack, Lake Gogebic, Mayor Joe DelFavero, Wakefield, Tony Grudnoski, Marquette, Albert (Darlene) Salo, Riverview, Fla., and Scott (Selina) Scoles, Winter Haven, Fla .; a great-nephew, Levi Scoles, Winter Haven; her awesome and amazing cousin, Marilyn Lizio, Wauconda, Ill .; her faithful neighbors, Marco and Mary Ann Movrich, Wakefield; and special friends, Jim and Nanette Paquette, Wakefield, Tony and Gay Gheller, Bessemer, Jean and DeeDee Sawaski, Wakefield, and Mary Negri, Houghton.

She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband, Joseph, on July 14, 2003; a sister, Barbara Russell, in 2011; and a brother, Raymond Scoles, in 2012.

In accordance with Norma's wishes, cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
