Fe University teaches second ski class

MERCER, Wis. — Because of popular demand after its last offering, Fe University will again hold a two-day cross country skiing class.

Chad McGrath will teach the class, which runs from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 27 and March 1 at the MECCA warming cabin in Mercer.

“Instruction will be targeted for adults, including older adults, who perhaps ski a little, but feel they would ski more if they improved their technique,” a Fe University spokesperson said in a news release. “Instruction will begin with the basics but will also focus on the needs of the students beginning with classic style and making the transition to skate skiing for those students who want to try the skating method.”

Students are required to provide their own equipment and should be able to stand on skis.

McGrath has taught cross-country skiing for over 25 years and has led skiers through the Porcupine Mountains.

Enrollment in the class is capped at eight students.

For information on the class, visit feuniversity.org or call 715-476-2881 or 715-561-3098.

Registration forms can be downloaded from the site — although the spokesperson said users should select another browser other than Chrome — or can be picked up at the Mercer Library or University of Wisconsin-Extension office at the Iron County courthouse in Hurley.
