    WATERSMEET - The Lac Vieux Desert Tribe hosted a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday to celebrate its new $10 million "state-of-the-art" health center. Tribal chairman James Williams said the tribe has been "in need" of a new facility for some time now. After much trouble, Williams said the tribe found funding to make the "dream" facility a reality.     ERWIN TOWNSHIP — While the Erwin Township agreed that it was a good idea at Wednesday’s meeting, they agreed to delay the Geographic Information System mapping of the township until the update of the township’s property cards is complete.   • Gogebic County renews 5-year dispatching pact

    BESSEMER — The Gogebic County Board of Commissioners Wednesday renewed its sheriff’s department dispatching contract with Iron County, Mich., for five years on a 6-1 vote. County board chair Joe Bonovetz, of Bessemer, cast the only no vote. Bonovetz supported switching Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department dispatching services to Negaunee Regional Dispatch, even though that would have cost the county nearly $100,000 more over the five-year period. DeMario, 93, of Ironwood, died peacefully Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, at Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Community in Ironwood, with his loving family by his side. He was born April 23, 1922, in Ironwood, son of the late Nick and Armenia (Dalpiaz) DeMario, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1940.     MARENISCO, Mich. - Eugene "Geno" Russell Joseph Kanto, 65, a longtime resident of Marenisco, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, at his home. Eugene was born on July 20, 1950, in Wakefield, the son of Russell Jack and Freda Ann (Granato) Kanto. He attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1968. On Oct. 20, 1979, Geno was united in marriage to Judith Sarah Wenberg in Hancock. The young couple made their home in Marenisco and were blessed with three children.     SUN LAKES, Ariz. — Nancy Ann Aho, 74, of Sun Lakes, passed away Friday, Aug. 28, after a short battle with cancer. Nancy was born in Hibbing, Minn., and graduated from Crystal Falls High School in Crystal Falls, Mich., in 1960. Nancy married David “Mike” Aho and they celebrated their 51st anniversary this past summer. They relocated to Sun Lakes from Bessemer, Mich., in 2002 after living there for 27 years.
