Elaine Ila Shauger

WAKEFIELD, Mich. — Elaine Ila Shauger, 88, a longtime resident of Wakefield, passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 19, 2013, in the company of her children.

She was born on Feb. 18, 1925, in Marshfield, Wis., daughter of the late Joseph and Ida (Taube) Parsons.

Elaine was united in marriage to Reino Hill. He passed away on April 30, 1952, at the age of 34.

On Aug. 15, 1953, she married Daniel L. Shauger. He preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 2004.

Elaine was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Wakefield.

She is survived by 10 children, Brian (Jeanette) Hill, of Colorado, Reino Hill, of Illinois, Forrest (Diana) Hill and Gary (Sue) Hill, both of Negaunee, Regan (Darlene) Hill, Bessemer, Jacquelyn Shauger (Gary Ilminen), Lone Rock, Wis., Daniel Shauger Jr., of Florida, Jesse Shauger, Wakefield, Janis Shauger, Sauk City, Wis., and Jeanne (Mark) Luczak, Bessemer; 30 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; five brothers, Ralph (Jeri) Waterman, Appleton, Wis., Lowell (Jeanette) Miller, Ashland, Wis., Lyle (Sonja) Miller, Gig Harbor, Wash., and Bill and Frank Miller, both of Fergus Falls, Minn .; three sisters, Gayle (Eldon) Mattson, Ironwood, and Donna (Leon) Kohler and Jody (Roger) Wheeler, both Detroit Lakes, Minn .; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husbands, Elaine was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Judith Hill; three grandsons, Keith, Garrett and Michael Hill; a great-granddaughter, Rayvn Rigoni; two brothers, Clayton Waterman and Arnold Miller; and five sisters, Yvonne Theide, Sharon Sobolewski, Sandy Kennedy, Annice LaVigne and LaVonne Engleking.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at All Saints Lutheran Church in Wakefield, with the Rev. Bill Jacobson officiating.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

A luncheon will take place immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield, in the spring.
