Mabel Elizabeth Zielinski

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Mabel Elizabeth Zielinski, born on Nov. 13, 1919, to Charles "Harry" and Lillian (Johns) Grigg, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 10, 2014.

Mabel graduated from Wakefield High School in 1937 and from Eau Claire (Wis.) Business College in 1939.

On Dec. 16, 1941, she married Zeno Zielinski at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Eau Claire.

Mabel worked in Detroit during World War II and later joined Zeno who was stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Antonio.

The happy couple of 52 years raised six children, Christopher (Barbara) Zielinski, Lexington, Barbara (Roger) Westeen, Coloma, Wis., Charles (Glenda) Zielinski, Ontonagon, Lillian (Buzz) Jensen, Elroy, Wis., Toni (John) Haukkala, Wakefield, and Mabel (Tom) Adelman, Katy, Texas.

Mabel was proud of her 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Zeno, on Nov. 11, 1993; a son, Joseph Zielinski; two grandsons, James Zielinski and Jason Haukkala; and four sisters, Dorothy, Mildred, Laura and Elsie.

During her 94 years and 363 days in Wakefield, Mabel worked at Divine Infant Hospital, the Civil Defense Office, Quality Rubber Plant, for the city of Wakefield, and finally she retired from the First National Bank.

Her favorite past times included visiting with her grandchildren and their friends, family gatherings, playing cards and cribbage, gardening and sharing the produce.

Mabel was deeply loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, from 1 to 2 p.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Antony Lukka as celebrant. Also in attendance will be the Immaculate Conception Women's Guild Honor Guard.

Following the Mass, dinner will be served downstairs of church.

Rite of Committal and interment will take place at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
