Deanna Marie 'Dee' Lane

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Deanna Marie "Dee" Lane, 76, of Wakefield, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015, surrounded by her loving family, after an 18-year battle with cancer.

Dee was born on April 18, 1938, in Stambaugh, a daughter of John and Elva (Newberg) Dombroski, and sister of Janet (and the late Eugene) Lakso. She attended Stambaugh High School and graduated in 1956.

Dee married Daniel DeCloux and had three children, Kimberly (Ronald) Wanink, Dana (Dale) Galka and Steve DeCloux.

Dee obtained her Bachelor of Arts in teaching from Northern Michigan University.

She worked many years at the Iron River Senior Center.

In 1974, Dee married Dennis Beaudette in Lansing, with his children, Dawn Erickson, Dennis (Sue) Beaudette, Denise (Jon) Bentley and the late Danny Beaudette. Dennis preceded her in death in 1995.

During her time in Lansing, she served as deputy city clerk for East Lansing.

In 2001, Dee married Robert Lane in Wakefield. Robert's children include Jeanette (Bob) Woodward, Mary (Orval) Rexford and the late Daniel Lane.

She continued her work with senior citizens and the elderly assisting with taxes and working as executive director of Bessemer Housing, receiving many awards in Washington D.C.

Dee served as mayor and council member for the city of Wakefield, was on the planning commission and president and member of Forward Wakefield. She also was president of the Bessemer School Board and Bessemer Professional Women's Club.

Dee was a member of many civic organizations, including Jaycettes, Order of Eastern Star, 32 years on the Little Blue Bus Council, bowling and numerous others.

She was known as an excellent seamstress, and sewed clothing and suits for work. Dee was known for her music ability, including piano, organ and accordion. She loved traveling and camping.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at the Wakefield United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ted Trudgeon officiating.

Lunch will be served at the Wakefield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084 following the service.

Memorials suggested to the family for future designation.
