Ironwood - Aspirus Ironwood Hospital held a tree-lighting ceremony Tuesday for its "Celebration Tree," which is planted near the "Tree of Love."

The "Celebration Tree" with its colorful lights, allows Aspirus to partner with members of the community to celebrate happy and special times. Births, weddings, graduations, and anniversaries are not things that just happen, they are major events in the lives of the people involved.

Aspirus Ironwood gives people the opportunity to buy a light for $5 to honor loved ones and the event.

Paula Chermside, CEO of Aspirus Ironwood Hospital, said the "trees are both freshly planted," just like the new building, which explains their small size and the community will be able to watch them grow over the upcoming years.

All profits from the Celebration Tree are distributed to promote and enhance Aspirus Ironwood at the discretion of the auxiliary board.

The lights on the Tree of Love are hung in honor of a loved one and shine bright white. The names of the honored loved ones are listed in the lobby so others can see and remember them also.
