ROYAL OAK, Mich. - Douglas Yon, 75, of Royal Oak, formerly of Wakefield, passed away Monday evening, Jan. 22, 2018.

Doug was born on Jan. 25, 1942, in Baraga, a son of Osiber and Ina Yon. He attended school in Wakefield and graduated from Sandusky High School in Sandusky.

Doug proudly served his country for two years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged as a Private First Class in 1966. Doug was a supporting member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Royal Oak and American Legion Post 11 in Wakefield.

He worked for one summer at Strausberg Asphalt Company in Chesaning, and was a bartender for many years.

Doug is survived by three brothers, Leslie (Beverly), Gerald and Greg (Domicella); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Robert (Janice) and Wilbert (Ella); two sisters, Beatrice Longacre and Helen Leazer; and two sisters-in-law, Alberta Yon and Barbara Yon.

Funeral services and military rites will be held at a later date.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Village Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Ortonville, and Lakeside Memorial Chapel Inc., in Wakefield.
