Carol Jean Holmes

ERWIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Carol Jean Holmes, 77, of Erwin Township, passed away on March 21, 2018 after a brief illness. Carol was born on April 12, 1940 in Painsedale, to Jack and Lena (DeForge) Wenberg.

She was a 1958 graduate of Luther L. Wright High School. On Aug. 30, 1958 she married Jack Holmes and they recently celebrated 59 years of marriage. Carol enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved her dogs and cats, berry picking at her home in Ewin and gardening.

She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood and volunteered at the blood bank in Ironwood.

She will be sadly missed by her husband Jack, children: Mark (Sherri) Holmes of Erwin, Mike (Christine) Holmes of Erwin, grandchildren: Jason William (Sandra) Holmes of Kronenwetter, Wis., Courtney Holmes of Ironwood and Hope Holmes of Nebraska, great-grandchildren: Annalena, Sawyer, Colton, Rayna and Jacob, brother John (Pat) Wenberg and sister Nancy Varlesi, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a stillborn son James Holmes, and a stillborn brother John David Wenberg.

At the family’s request, private services will be held at Riverside Cemetery of Ironwood.
