SPRINGSTEAD, Wis. — A Springstead man is dead following a single-vehicle crash Friday.
A passing motorist reported the accident at the intersection of Wisconsin 47 and Wisconsin 182 to the Iron County Sheriff’s Department at approximately 11:10 p.m. Friday, according to Sheriff Paul Samardich, with an unresponsive man at the accident scene.
Deputies — along with the Mercer Ambulance, Sherman First Responders, Sherman Fire Department, and Mercer Fire and Rescue — arriving on the scene found the unresponsive man inside the vehicle.
It appears the car was traveling on Wisconsin 182, Samardich said in a news release, and hit a tree after failing to negotiate the intersection with Wisconsin 47.
Coroner Diane Simonich declared the man dead at the scene.
Samardich said the department’s investigation into the crash is ongoing at this time.
