Wakefield - Members of the Split Rock Trail Association welcome local residents to participate in a candlelight snowshoe walk on March 8 at 7 p.m. in Wakefield.

People wishing to participate in the "Under the Super Moon" snowshoe event should report to the SRTA trail access site by turning north at the caution light on Putnam Street in Wakefield, and then traveling eight-tenths of a mile to the access site on the left of the road.

A related social event, including snacks and prizes, will occur directly after the walk at Wakefield VFW Post 9084.

SRTA members assure that people are welcome to participate in the VFW celebration even if they choose to opt out of the snowshoe walk.

A raffle drawing will take place at the VFW at 8:30 p.m.

The prize will be a set of snowshoes.

Call 906-364-2641 for more information.

The event is being promoted as "a family-friendly Thrivent Action Team Project" and is being jointly sponsored by SRTA and the Wakefield Chamber of Commerce.
