BESSEMER — The Gogebic County Road Commission announced Monday that spring weight restrictions will take effect for county roads as of noon Thursday.
A 5-ton limit will be enforced on all local county roads, according to the announcement, due to the minimal surface support and susceptibility of frost heave on the local roads — including the gravel roads.
On the primary county road system, the 35% reduction in axle loading required by Michigan’s frost laws will be in place. This allows trucks to remain at normal weight on the major routes through the county but reducing the load on normal roads...
