HURLEY, Wis. - Dorothy Bunjevac, 93, of Ironwood, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, at the Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley.

She met and married Steve Bunjevac on July 26, 1946. He preceded her in death.

Dorothy had a very strong work ethic; and if you drove past her house, you could see her mowing her lawn, shoveling her driveway, trimming her weeds, scrubbing her garage floor on her hands and knees, or any of the many tasks she was constantly doing, right up to the time of her brief illness.

She waitressed many years at the Kenmar and at the Towne House, both in Ironwood.

Dorothy is survived by her nephews, Dennis, Tom, Brian, Paul and Richard Panich, and by many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents and her husband, Steve, she is also preceded in death by her children, Stephen Jr. and Ronald; by her sister, Rose Panich; and by many more family members.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with Fr. Binu Joseph officiating.

We would like to thank the exceptional nursing staff at the Villa Maria, and especially Adam, for the wonderful care and exceptional help given to a challenging situation.

The family has chosen McKevitt Funeral home of Ironwood to honor Dorothy's legacy of life. You can leave a condolence or a tribute at mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.
