Dennis 'Legend' Simcoe

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Dennis "Legend " Simcoe, 64, of Ironwood passed away at home on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022.

He was born on Jan. 15, 1958, in Wakefield, the son of Joseph and Lois (Johnson) Simcoe.

He was bigger than life and willing to help anyone if needed.

Dennis is survived by his brother, Joseph Simcoe; sister, Mary Lou Midbrod; along with his very special nephews, David (Jeannine/Nina) Simcoe, BJ (Dawn) Midbrod and Grant (Ricki) Midbrod; great-nephew, Chase Simcoe, who he loved and was so proud of; great-niece, Rebekah; daughter, Melissa Ranta; and granddaughter, Gabriella. He also leaves behind two other children, a very special daughter, Emily Zolecki, and Michael (Heather) Zolecki, along with many special friends, Greg Zalewski, Ron Niemi Jr., Layla Saari, Mark Wesenburg, James Hellman, Greg Sikonia and Jeff Behrendt, along with so many others. He leaves behind many friends and family who loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Lois; his father, Joesph; brother, David, sister-in-law, Donna Simcoe; and brother-in-law, William Midbrod.

They say "legends never die," and he will always remain in the hearts and minds of all who loved him. He always said he preferred smiles to tears, so when you think of him, please smile and know he's with the angels, smiling right back. Until we all meet again, play a song for all of us here. His favorite quote that he would all want everyone to follow is: "Remember hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies."

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
