Margaret Elizabeth (Miskovich) Jurasin

BESSEMER, Mich. - Margaret Elizabeth (Miskovich) Jurasin, 75, of Bessemer, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at her home, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born May 10, 1940, on the Miskovich family farm just outside of Wakefield, the daughter of Steve and Mary (Grivicich) Miskovich.

Margaret was one of 13 children, nine of whom were also born and raised right there on the farm. When she was about 16, a young Joe Jurasin received instructions from his father to deliver a problem goose to the Miskovich farm. Margie and sister, Whitey, caught wind of the goose delivery and awaited his arrival. They wanted to see just how handsome Joe was. When they snuck a peek from around the farm house, Joe and Margie locked eyes for the first time. Four years later he would ask the beautiful girl he saw that day to marry him. On Aug. 25, 1960, they were united in marriage at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield.

Three years after marriage, their first son, Joseph, was born and shortly after their second son, Robert. The boys were both talented athletes. Marge and Joe found great joy cheering them on throughout their athletic careers. Sometimes in the summers, the four of them would hook up the Jay-co trailer and travel around the United States having numerous adventures together that will be forever cherished, even by those who have only heard the stories.

Her boys grew up, married and had children of their own. Margie was forever spoiling her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and siblings with homemade canned peppers, sweets, pita, afghans and unconditional love and support. Her passion for cooking and feeding people has inspired some of her loved ones to carry on the legacy.

Everyone loved her and came to spend time with her. She was a haven. She made everyone feel welcome, comfortable, loved and well fed. She was truly the hostess with the most! She always dressed to the nines with her rings sparkling just as her eyes and smile did. Her home was beautifully decorated, and her arms and heart were open eternally.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joe Jurasin; two sons, Bob (Carrie) Jurasin, of Marquette, and Joe (Kathy) Jurasin, of Forest Lake, Minn .; seven grandchildren, Bobby, Katie, Dylan, Kelsie, Wyatt, J.T. and Dorianna; five sisters, Mary (Gordon) Erickson, of Ironwood, Lucille (David) Zazeski, of Ramsay, Gail (Daniel) Gerovac, of Waterloo, Ill., Janice Miskovich, of Gile, Wis., and Cindy (Peter) Palm, of Ironwood; two brothers, Kelly (Mary) Miskovich and Joe Miskovich, both of Wakefield; two aunts, Marcella Miskovich and Kay Sibley, both of Wakefield; numerous nieces and nephews, other loving relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Robert, George and Steve; and two sisters, Anna Mae Richards and Clara Johnson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield, with Father Antony Lukka as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer in the spring. Range Funeral Service and Crematory, Frick-Zielinski Funeral Home of Bessemer is assisting the family with arrangements.
