Elaine J. Borich

SUPERIOR, Wis. - Elaine J. Borich, 92, of Superior, passed away peacefully in her home on Feb. 26, 2017.

She was born to Vittorio and Celestine Pertile on May 5, 1924, in Bessemer, Mich.

She was employed as a secretary at A.D. Johnston High School, where she met her future husband, John Borich. They were married on Aug. 7, 1948. They lived for a brief time in Ramsay, Mich., and later relocated to Superior, where they raised their four children.

Elaine will be remembered lovingly for her wonderful cooking and baking skills and the pride she took in her home and yard, especially her rose garden. Her other interests included politics, sports of all kinds, and gardening.

Her deep faith, which included membership at the former St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Billings Park and more recently, Cathedral of Christ the King, guided her life and was the foundation for a strong family bond.

Her quick wit, positive attitude and caring nature made her a valued friend and neighbor. Elaine will be dearly missed by her family.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; daughter, Beth; siblings, Jennie Montesi, Mary Corgiat and Joseph Pertile, of Bessemer, and Albin Pertile, California.

Elaine is survived by her sons, Charles and Thomas (Ann) Borich, of Superior, and a daughter, Julie (John) Heller, of Moon Township, Pa., and four beloved grandchildren, Jordan, Thomas, Meg and Kristin. She is also survived by a sister, Rose Matonich, Bessemer; and a brother, Robert (Norma) Pertile, Montana; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 3, 11 a.m. at Cathedral of Christ the King Church, 1111 Belknap St., in Superior, with the Rev. Father Andrew Ricci as celebrant. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the mass. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cathedral of Christ the King Church, Organ Fund.
