Louise R. Demasi

IRONWOOD, Mich. — Louise R. Demasi, age 78, an Ironwood icon, has departed to be with her Lord and Savior; and parents, Pizza King Joe and Lena; in Heaven on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Westgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ironwood after a short illness.

Louise was born on June 15, 1945, in Ironwood, to Joseph and Lena Demasi. She graduated in 1963 from Luther L. Wright High School and left to go to New York to pursue a career. Louise worked as an accountant for Kraft Foods from 1963 to 1980. That is when she came back to Ironwood, to fulfill her father’s dream, and became the owner of Pizza King Joe’s until 2023.

Louise was a very caring person who was always willing to help someone in need. She loved to check on her customers, to make sure they were satisfied with their order. She was extremely active in the Ironwood and Hurley community. She served a term on the Ironwood City Commission, she organized and assisted with many fundraisers, and was a major part of getting the Little League field together.

She is survived by her sisters, Roselle Demasi and Loretta Demasi, both from New York; many dear cousins; a long time family friend, who was like a brother, Eugene (aka Skippy) Lombardo; and many, many dear and close friends. Louise was preceded in death by her parents and an unborn sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on June 15 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Father Brian Gerber as celebrant. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. The family requests guests to join them from noon to 3 p.m. at the Iron County Memorial Building (201 Iron St. in Hurley, Wisconsin) for a celebration of life.

The family would like to thank all those who cared for Louise during her final days.

The family has chosen the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home in Ironwood to honor Louise’s legacy of life. To make an online condolence visit McKevittPatrickFuneralHome.com.
