    IRONWOOD - Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist were in Ironwood Tuesday to kick off their U.P. Jobs Tour across the Upper Peninsula.     MINNEAPOLIS — Marlys Jean (nee Edwards) Ahlstrand passed away in Minneapolis on Aug. 7, 2021, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Marlys was born July 15, 1948, in Ironwood, Michigan. She was a daughter of Charles and Emily (nee Olkonen) Edwards. Marlys grew up in Ironwood and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1966. She went on to graduate from Gogebic Community College and Michigan State University. She lived in Minneapolis for more than 50 years.
